Hops are the bittering agent used in beer and are traditionally boiled with the wort to help balance the sweet malt flavor, but can also be used at later stages of the brewing process for a more subtle effect. At Odell, we have invested significantly over the years to research new hop exposure processes, searching for ways to deliver the optimal flavor and aroma profiles to our selection of beers. The happy (hoppy?) results are our delectable 5 Barrel Pale Ale, hopped in 8 stages with 6 different hops, and our new, groundbreaking IPA, hopped in 7 stages with 6 different hops.

  • Our custom designed hopback runs hot wort over a bed of whole hops after the boil process, extracting non-bittering hop flavor and aroma
  • Our painstakingly designed dry-hopping process submerges bags of whole hops into room temperature fermented beer without letting the bags sink or float, extracting a final, fresh hop flavor
