Small Batch Pilot Beers of 2015

One thing we love to do at the brewery is experiment. Our five barrel pilot system is designed to let us play around with recipes and brew something unique. From co-owners to collaborations, we create and brew over 90 pilot beers on this system each year. These beers are showcased in our tap room until the kegs run dry. You never know what will be on tap when you walk through our doors… It’s half the fun!

‘Tis the Season

Each season, we have something to look forward to – new beers! New seasons mean new seasonals. Returning favorites – Lugene Chocolate Milk Stout and Runoff Red IPA – are hitting shelves in all of our markets. Soon to follow… our newest version of Wolf Picker, an experimental pale ale, available in our Winter/Spring Montage Variety Pack.

Runoff Red IPA – Our much-loved Red IPA returns for another season. Runoff is always a favorite go-to when the seasons start to change. This beer boasts notes of strawberry, twizzlers, lemon, citrus, grapefruit and pine that is not only bright in the aroma but also in the flavor. The fruit and citrus hop notes are well balanced with a full bodied malt backbone that brings in a subtle yet rich maltiness with slight notes of caramel. Creamy with an assertive but clean bitterness, this beer will keep us all warm through the rest of the winter.

Best to be enjoyed with a hearty stew or your favorite well braised meat (think elk, pheasant or lamb). If you want something lighter, a salad with toasted almonds, strawberries and goat cheese would pair well with this beer mimicking its rich, malty notes. Thinking dessert? Try it with a strawberry cheesecake.

Available in 6-packs through April.    Runoff Red IPA

Lugene Chocolate Milk Stout – This full bodied, creamy, smooth milk stout is rich with milk and dark chocolates. These characteristics come through in both the aroma and flavor, just like a big glass of chocolate milk! The dark malts provide a balance to the sweetness of the rich chocolate. Warming from the alcohol, this is a great dessert beer like a chocolate liquor.

Enjoy a pint of Lugene with a rich dessert like crème brûlée or brownies or even your favorite BBQ ribs.

Available in 4-packs through the end of March.

Wolf Picker – Our newest experimental Pale Ale, inspired by our small-batch pilot system, has hints of coconut, papaya and mango with a mild herbal quality. In other words, a herbaceous garden meets tropical paradise! The body is medium, smooth, crisp and refreshing. The bitterness is assertive but clean. Each year, Wolf Picker is brewed with a new variety of hops. Some are so rare, they don’t even have a name. Crazy! Be sure to grab a Winter/Spring Montage Variety Pack so you can enjoy this rare, but flavorful, pale ale.

Due to the complexity of Wolf Picker, we recommend fish tacos or a spicy Thai dish. For something lighter, a citrus salad with blue cheese crumbles will bring out the citrus notes. A key lime pie would be a tasty dessert if you’re in the mood for something sweeter.

Available in our Winter/Spring Montage Variety Pack through April.

Charity of the Month – SAVA

Charity of the Month: SAVA

It is the season of gratitude, reflection and light. This month we honor the people in our community that do some of the most difficult and important work to keep the fabric of our society whole and we are so grateful for them. Sexual Assault Victims Advocates provides a safe space for survivors to seek the help they need to improve their lives in the wake of their assault. SAVA provides services for men and women survivors of sexual assault including (but not limited to) evidence collection and healing through this immensely complicated process. They provide the truth about sexual assault and empower each of us to be better citizens, neighbors and friends through compassion and communication. Though we all wish that SAVA were unnecessary, they remain a beacon of light for members of our populace that feel like the light has been taken away. We cannot thank them enough for the challenging work that they do!

Tip Jar: Crossroads Safehouse

Yet another organization that provides some of the most challenging and important help for our disenfranchised community members, we are honored to have Crossroads Safehouse on our tip jar this month. “For 34 years, abused women and children have come to Crossroads Safehouse in Fort Collins. Here they have found safety, shelter, and the personal assistance and resources they need to build lives without violence. Crossroads offers free safehousing, advocacy, legal assistance, transitional housing, and education. At our safehouse we annually provide food, clothing, and support for over 500 residents.  Crossroads new facility houses administrative staff, legal staff and shelter residents under one roof, and is the point of contact for donors, volunteers, and outreach clients. Each year we provide more than 15,000 units of service to thousands of clients and program attendees. In 2013, Crossroads provided shelter for 521 individuals helping to prevent 14,737 nights of homelessness due to domestic violence”

To learn more about Crossroads Safehouse and what they provide our community, visit them here:  Looking to give to a highly impactful organization in our community? Go here:

Please visit our tap room in support of these two organizations! Our Charity of the Month recipients receive month-long exposure to our tap room guests, the opportunity to host an event in our space after-hours, access to our volunteer base for approved projects and a donation from our charitable fund housed at the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado. Our tip jar recipients also receive month-long exposure to our tap room guests and a donation at the end of the month based on the generosity of our tap room guests. Both are conscientiously chosen by our in-house charitable committee comprised of co-workers from our diverse departments.
